While the wave of globalization continues to overflow coasts after coasts in modern world’s economy, it is impossible for a country to stand still and wait for series of globalization waves to marginalize her out. Instead, one must keep up with the imminent change to remain competitive in this borderless world. To develop, as one would put. In this sense, learning and observing the new environments from the natives help expose us to diverse opinions that would guide us to not only a broader vision of the changing world itself but also the further prediction toward it as well.
Furthermore, the current global arena is filled with the growing concerns on the importance of Asia’s development and its sustainability. The improving economic situations in ASEAN countries provide us hope for a transition. A transition from developing to developed countries that we all long for.
For that reason, Thammasat University, in a cordial collaboration with various respected colleges, initiated ICES (International Conference of Economics Students) in hope to serve the unique learning experience to a group of carefully selected delegates from around the world.
ICES was originated in 2006 by a group of economics students of Thammasat University (Thailand). The first ICES was held in June 2007 in Bangkok for 3 days. The conference received warm response from public with 60 delegates participating from several countries. The participants not only enjoyed invaluable opportunities to discuss with other people who came from different backgrounds, they also got to learn variety of cultures in person. From the first step, ICES team has gathered bits and pieces from many worthy suggestions and is more than ready to implement them in this year’s ICES conference for your best learning experience.
